The mission of Young Learners School is early intervention. Our teachers provide a quality education for pre-kindergarten children enrolled in freestanding Head Start programs, the YMCA, and child care centers. We deliver the state of Texas pre-kindergarten program and prepare the children to enter kindergarten on a level academically comparable with their peers. Young Learners teachers work in more than 28 independent child care centers. The schools are located throughout Houston and are owned by various partners, such as AVANCE, Neighborhood Centers Inc., Gulf Coast Community Services Association, and the YMCA. Young Learners teachers work in a team teaching environment in conjunction with the child care center. Young Learners teachers receive field support from mentor teachers and an instructional supervisor, who act as liaisons between the teacher and the administration. Young Learners School |
