The Young Learners School believes that children can become proficient in English without losing their home language and in order to achieve bilingualism, the process of English language acquisition must be additive. Young Learners School provides the State of Texas Bilingual Education Program. Through meaningful interactions with adults, children gain knowledge and understanding of the world; thus, they gain intelligence. The bilingual program supports the development of cognitive and language skills which allow for critical thinking, problem-solving and language development in the student’s first language. Young Learners School believes that all children in our society need to acquire English for success in school and in life. At Young Learners School, English is also taught to all students in the bilingual education program. Students are prepared to master listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and content vocabulary in English.
